William (Bill) Underwood was a veteran of WW2, and past Commander of the Kent American Legion Post 496. When the planning began to build a new post he had a vision of a large reception hall that would seat more than 400 individuals for weddings, receptions, family events, and other special occasions. The new hall was to be built at ground level to easily and graciously accommodate everyone. It would be a place where family and friends could join one another to enjoy unique and personal events. His vision became the beautiful, spacious and elegant "Underwood Hall"
